Many of you know that I participate in a group on flickr called the “Epiphany Group”. When we have swappers that are going through a difficult time we get together as quilters to give them a “Quilty” hug….

This is one of our friends Mollyjolly. We thought she’d enjoy lots of “soft” mail, so we showered her with pinwheel and bird blocks in bright colors on white backgrounds…

This is what Maria wrote:

It only took me two years to finish it, but I have to say, I’ve been bundling up with this baby on the couch for the past couple of nights. I wanted to finish it by the end of September to celebrate my two year cancer date (yes, I know that sounds strange, but finding the cancer is what made it curable!), but events conspired against me. I had a bumpy ride working on this quilt, which began with one of my dogs finding my stash of blocks – which were hidden in a bag, between the bed and nightstand – and chewing about 4-5 of them up. I was so heartbroken that I put my blocks away for a while until I could get past that. After I had my reconstruction surgery and started feeling better, though, I knew it was time. So thank you, my flickr friends for sharing your love with me. While it’s taken me a looooong time to finish this quilt, the joy that I got every time I opened the mailbox and found a block helped me get through the worst of the treatment. I love you all! 🙂
