Farewell to flickr as I knew it…

I am usually so excited to share with you the fun things that I am making for swaps on flickr…  Sad to say, flickr has made so many changes recently that it is no longer a site that encourages swapping.  They have gone to large images that use up members data plans and have been unhelpful in fixing the problem.

For us “Pro” users, they’ve generously given us a free Terabyte.  Actually, they’ve given that to everyone, so there is no benefit to having a “Pro” account.  And no, I didn’t get a refund for my “Pro” account.  Their format is attempting to recruit advertisers.  I am not a major advertiser and so my opinion and faithful membership since 2009, and swapping is really not important…

Farewell to thee oh faithless flickr…

Ruthie, so sad! I want to know what’s next for swaps. I just got to the point I wanted to join the group. Let me know.

Hi Rebecca! I’ll see if we can get something going on Ipernity or Facebook… There are a lot of flickr swappers looking for someplace to hang their hats! I’ll let you know!

Ditto! They’re really ticking me off!

Ruthie start a blog for yourself at BlogSpot.com
For groups, yahoo groups works really well.

Just my 2 cents. I love seeing your work.

Thanks for the idea… I tried BlogSpot.com but had problems getting it started. I’m a bit of a neanderthal when it comes to PC’s. I have and ipernity act, and am on facebook so either of those may work too…

I just can’t believe that they are not even willing to listen to anyone. My husband and I are software engineers and this is NOT “improvement”!
I have an account on Ipernity too, just waiting for the gang to move there. I don’t like Facebook much because I don’t care for their privacy policy and everything shows up on everyone’s feed. I do like Yahoo! group though. My 2 cents 🙂

    Hugs!
    Soma 🙂

Good to know Soma! I swapped occasionally in Yahoo groups before I joined flickr… I loved flickr back in the day. It was so much fun! I have an Ipernity act too, but haven’t been drawn to it like I was with flickr.
