Hi everyone! Me again! Last month at my Prairie Women’s Sewing Circle group at Village Dry Goods we were taught a method for taking 2 squares and making 2- 9 patch blocks with them. It was such a cool method, I decided to make up a tutorial! I can’t take credit for the method, just the crappy pictures! LOL!The measurements will make 2- 3.5 inch 9 patch blocks.
Cut 2 squares, 1 dark, 1 light 4 1/2 inches square. Sew a quarter of an inch seam on both sides as pictured.
This will leave you 2 strips with seams along the sides, and 2 separate strips of both light and dark fabrics. Press seams to dark side. Add light strip to dark piece, stitching 1/4 of an inch in, and dark strip to light piece as pictured. You will now have 2 sets of rails: Light, dark, light and dark, light, dark.
Nest 2 pieced rails as pictured matching up edges.
You will have 2 9 patch blocks, one with light corners, and one with dark corners. This is a really awesome way to use those charm packs. (I cut mine down to 4 1/2 inches just to make the math easier! LOL!) Thanks for joining me! I hope you try and love this as much as I do!!!
