Another Fabulous Trip to the Bird Refuge!

So I am going to do my best to identify the birds in these picture correctly, but I am not an Ornithologist, nor do I play one on TV.  We had an awesome outing to the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge yesterday!  We saw several species we hadn’t seen before, plus a few old favorites…

IMG_3775Western Grebe…  Note the black coloring around the eye.  Not to be confused with the Clark’s Grebe as pictured below.

IMG_3829See how he has white around his eyes?  This is a Clark’s Grebe.

IMG_3783Black-necked Stilt

IMG_3792This is a Killdeer, he kept wandering along the road.  Otherwise, he and his friends flew too fast to get pictures!

IMG_3880This is a White-face Ibis.  However, I struggle with some of the pictures I’ve see online to differentiate between the White-faced and Glossy Ibis!

???????????????????????????????This is an American Avocet…  He has blue legs which aren’t pictured here.  Cool bird!

IMG_3891One of my favorites!  The Yellow-headed Blackbird…

IMG_3845Those red eyes are a little freaky!  This is a Cinnamon Teal.

IMG_3860Another favorite!  The Snowy Egret…

IMG_3903Mr. “You can’t see me…”  Otherwise known as a Great Blue Heron.

IMG_3918A double take of 2 Double-crested Cormorant!

???????????????????????????????And last but not least, a Long-billed Curlew!

We also saw a couple of Sand Hill Cranes at a great distance with babies!  They were too difficult to photograph.  It was a great trip!

Hope you enjoyed seeing pictures from the Bird Refuge!  Thanks for stopping by…
