My latest pattern…

I attend a fun winter retreat at Bryce Canyon.  Last year I signed up for the “Extreme Round Robin”.  I had so much fun I wanted to do it again.  This years’ theme is “Taking a trip on Route 66”.  I googled it and found this awesome image to work from!  I love all things vintage, and this gas pump is no different…  The block has to be 10 inches finished, so I’ll add 2 strips on either side of this to make it 10inches.  I’ll incorporate the fabrics as they didn’t work for the pieced section.???????????????????????????????I printed the Mobilgas image and Route 66 image off of the internet onto fabric.  Now I have to get the borders pieced and then make 12 more!  (Plus another set of 13 5inch squares!)  Yikes!

Thanks for visiting!

Saw your post on facebook on the Quilting group. My hubby is a big fan of all things vintage especially old gas stations. I love this. Would you share your pattern?

Hi Ruthie, I remember driving along the Route 66 when I was a preteen with my parents and brother.

I grew up in Vancouver and we had family in California, we then drove along Route 66 to visit my aunt who lived in Chicago. Still love finding old portions of it when in the neighbourhood or it.

Great pattern, have you thought about using rat tail and couching it down for the hose?

Sorry, but I don’t know what rat tail is… One of my friends suggested black cording which would have been great, but I didn’t have anything on hand and I was too impatient to wait until I could get some! LOL!

We’ve driven Route 66 many times as well… Only short distances though, not like you!

      I’m glad you like it!

    Hi Ruth,

Rattail cord is made of satin and is often about 2mm in diameter. I think I’ve seen it at Walmart or Joann Fabrics. It is sometimes used to make Chinese knots. It comes in a variety of colours.
