A few little projects that I’ve been working on…

April 6, 2016

Yes, I know…  I haven’t been around much lately, but I have so many projects that I’m working on!  Here’s a little peek…

102_1086Close-up on a friends quilt…  This was a fun one!

102_1092And a couple of mugrugs I quilted for another friend!

102_1088And last but not least, my furry helper is showing you the last quilt top that I’ve completed…

102_1052I did this as an online mystery with several friends.  I kept sewing my rows on wrong and unpicked the same row 4 times!  Mey!  I added the braid around the edge to finish it off…  Yeah!  Now to put it in the “Needs to be quilted” pile.

Another Post on UQG’s Quilt Festival…

September 24, 2015

There really was too much fun going on at Quilt Fest to only post once!

127_0705The luncheons are always such fun!  Left to right:  Sheri, Pam (behind Sheri), Jane, Denise, Vivian, Patsy, and Diane!  We were the rowdy table…

127_0709Denise and Vivian…

127_0707Pam and Jane!

127_0736I made all of these fun things in Deonn’s class…  She can be found at http://www.quiltscapesquilting.com  This was in her “Snippets” class.  The kits were a.w.e.s.o.m.e.  Everything was already cut out so all we had to do is sew!  Thanks Deonn!!!  (Deonn and I met online in a flickr house swap.  I run into her at different quilting events around the valley.  She is so fun in person!)

And the last class I took was Emily’s “7 Sisters”!

127_0740Look what I got finished!  (Okay, I worked on it at home too, but still a quick finish!)

Emily is in one of my local guilds and she is such a talent!  She can be found at https://www.facebook.com/Aunt-Ems-Quilts-192205780855442/timeline

We have a lot of fabulous quilters around here…  Both Emily and Deonn have had the covers of different magazines!

And I suppose I should show you my Fair Challenge Quilt…

127_0727The challenge fabric is the white with all the colored circles…  Those colored circles were great inspiration!

Thanks for stopping by!  (p.s. Poukie is such a ham!)

A couple of projects…

June 10, 2015

I have been working on a few things recently and thought I’d share!

In the Mini QT Swap we did the theme, “Furry Purries”…  I made this little quilt for my partner, Quilt Monster.  I used pictures of her two cats

to pick from Free Coloring Pages for my pattern.  I tweaked them to resemble hers!

Here they are from my Furry Purries!121_0493Poukie, Lexi, and Arnold.

121_0487Grey Boy (in front), Lexi, Arnold, and Milo.  Yes, mine look bored!

And last but not least, a special little project I’ve been working on for a friend…

121_0502I stuck with feathers going up and down to speed things up!  The recipient will receive this tomorrow…

Such a precious gift…

May 8, 2015

As many of you may know, I lost my Mother in February to a long battle with Alzheimers.

I have belonged to a group on flickr  for several years called the “Epiphany Group” that makes quilts for online friends who

are having a difficult time.

This time, I was the recipient… DSC_0010My online friends (and one sneaky local friend) each made a block, and sent them on to Quiltedoma (Andrea) who stitched them into a quilt top.  Batting and backing was donated by members and the quilt was quilted by CASharp (Cindy) from “Tops To Treasures”  Bouncypoodle (Pattiann) bound it and applied the label and then Nannette invited my to breakfast.

DSC_0016Nann made the special delivery in person!

DSC_0011My friends made this in my favorite colors…  Each block is a  master piece!

DSC_0100I’ll post some close-ups so you can see them all…DSC_0101

My Christmas Present…

April 28, 2015

My good friend Denise gave me a beautiful quilt top for Christmas this year…

I decided to pick up some backing fabric last week, so I was able to get it loaded on the midarm…

It came out great!!!  Thanks Denise!!!121_0424It’s good sized, 82 x 97 inches!

121_0425Here’s a close up of the stars and sashing…121_0428It got Milo’s approval!  He went in, under, and around it lots of times!

Thanks for visiting!  Now, what to do next?!  I have a couple of charity quilts to get put together and quilted…

MQTS Harvest/Halloween Swap…

October 5, 2014

In the Mini QT Swap on flickr we had a Harvest/Halloween theme…  I made this for my partner, jm1122:

???????????????????????????????Some of you may recognize “Rat Zombie”, for whom I have a deep love and affection…  LOL!

He was the star for this little mini quilt!  He “loves” candy corns.  I added arms to the candy corns after I took this shot.

A few days ago, I received this in the mail:

IMG_0468I just love this!  A spider web block with spider web quilting!  Brilliant!  Plus, Jodie was so generous…

IMG_0470She included all of these awesome goodies!  (All I sent her was a bag of M&M’s and a spooky music CD!)

Thanks Jodie!  What a fun package (x2) to find in the mailbox!

(That’s why I love swapping!  Best mail e.v.e.r.!)

And here’s the purrr-fect way to say “goodbye”…

Getting ready…

August 6, 2014

I’ll be teaching my “Retractable Tape Measure” at the Utah Quilt Guild Annual Meeting in September…  I’ve been prepping my kits for the class.

I decided to prepare the paper pieced sections before the class for anyone who wants to simply focus on sewing the pattern together…  I’m doing a few

extra patterns so that the students have some fun choices…  These are 2 of the 4 patterns that I’ll be offering them!  Of course, there has to be a cat!

Meow…IMG_0166Here’s a close-up on the kitty face.IMG_0167
Apparently my knots are a little unruly.

Thanks for stopping by!

Jumping the gun just a smidge…

August 4, 2014

IMG_0146I made this little quilt for my partner in the MQTS.  I sent it out last week, and it should be there tomorrow…

The theme was “Anything Goes” so I decided to try a new technique.

I used whole cloth quilting and then painted the sections that weren’t quilted with Lumiere paints…  I like the way this came out…

I have a few more things up my sleeve that I can’t share just yet, but soon!  LOL!  (3 challenge quilts that I’m working on like a mad woman!)

IMG_0148Here is the back, which I may have shown before…  LOL!

IMG_0149And last but not least, my very shy feral kitty, Grey.  (Creative name, no?!)

Thanks for visiting!

My latest project…

July 6, 2014

Thought you might like to see what I do with some of those bitty blocks that I swap in the BBC, Bitty Block Committee…IMG_4935I finally got this batch together…  It was actually 2 swap groups, underwater/beach theme done twice due to the popularity!

Thanks to all my awesome friends who contributed the blocks in it!!

It makes me happy looking at it!  I’ve taken close ups so you can see all of the blocks…IMG_0001

These pictures came out a little dark, but you can see the blocks!

IMG_0002IMG_0003IMG_0004IMG_0006IMG_0005I looked online for ocean themed sayings that I liked, and this is what I found…IMG_0007The border is something I saw on FaceBook and had to try…

And it got the ever important kitty seal of approval!

IMG_0014

I have to work my threads back into the quilt sandwich still, and figure out how I’m going to bind it…

Thanks for stopping by!

My latest BBC Block!

May 20, 2014

This is the latest block that I designed for the BBC (Bitty Block Committee)…  It measures 3 inches finished.  Our theme was, “My garden” so I decided to put the Garden Guardians on duty!  They swear to uphold the rights of all plants and worms to be free from the Tyranny of birds everywhere…  (Ironically, my next post is a bird post!  LOL!)  IMG_3960

They still need their eyes embroidered on, but I’ll get to that at some point before I mail them out!  Thanks for stopping by!
