Missing in action, or Too busy to be believed?

September 16, 2016

Yes, I am still in the land of the living.  I told my friend Susie that I hadn’t been on the computer in about a week.

She’s said, “I think it’s been longer than that!”  Well, sure enough, it’s been almost 2 weeks!

I have been sewing sewing sewing…  Here are a few of the things I’ve been working on…

100_5352I quilted this quilt for my “Quilty Hugs” group that donates to local charities.  Emily with http://www.auntemsquilts.com/ has a group that meets with her once a month to work on these quilts…

100_5359This is Roy Quilt Guild members who have finished working on their mystery quilts.  (Okay, the 2 on the left are mine as I taught the mystery!)  I’ll post more next month as the tops come in…

100_5371And here’s my little quilt at the fair…  😉

100_5394This is Susie’s quilt that I quilted for her which she created using Emily’s pattern!  (I love that!)

100_5397I quilted this for a client!

100_5400And last, but not least is my “Going Coastal” quilty for the MQTS group on flickr.

It’s a pattern that I revamped a bit from a previous mini quilt that I designed.

I wanted something that represented Patrick’s State Park in California where we camped this summer.

Whew!

Thanks for stopping by!  I’ll try to be better next time!  😉

I asked myself, “Can I do it?”  The answer is, “Yes I can!”

Here is the completed Teeny Tiny quilt swap that I am making for my partner on flickr in the MQTS  (Mini QT Swap) group.  I’ve made 2 of them so I could keep one for myself…  (Although mine is different colors/layout!)

100_5137I don’t know if you remember or not, but my mini quilt “Wee Red and White Delight was made using 1.5 inch blocks finished.  This one is 1 inch finished blocks…  I don’t think I want to try it any smaller.  (Unless…)

What I’ve received…

February 21, 2016

As you may all know by now, I’m a bit of a swap addict!  I’ve done a couple of swaps on flickr in the MQTS (Mini QT Swap) group.  These are a few fun things that I’ve received!

127_0973

This is the beautiful little Redwork Mini that I received from Lesliecan’tstopquilting…  Isn’t it divine?  And if this isn’t enough, Leslie also with the help of Marilyn and Pattiann (group Mama’s) sent out all the goodies in this package!

127_0975

I had sent out a cat mini swap that hadn’t been acknowledged or reciprocated.  (It does happen occasionally…)  They got together and sent me all this kitty awesomeness!  Thanks again Leslie, Marilyn, and Pattiann!  XOXO  You’re the best!

And this is what I received from my partner for the Little Bag Swap…

127_1013

Tammy was my partner for this swap and her work is exceptional!!!

This is what was inside the little sewing kit…

And even pockets inside the main bag!127_1015

Wow!  What an awesome job Tammy did!  Thank you so much Tammy!  Exquisite work!

That’s pretty much why I’m addicted to swapping!  Nothing beats a great partner!!!

Another Swap! Kaffe Deliciousness!

August 14, 2015

Well, I know this will surprise some of you, but I’m doing another swap!

This one is on Facebook and is making use of Kaffe Fassett Fabric Collection…  I love these fabrics!

DSC_4999These are my arcs…  I’m making them in grey and beige.  One for my partner, and one for me…

I just finished the top of one of them.127_0630I have to say how much I love the color paired with the grey!  I still have to get the beige one put together.

And then get them quilted.  Hmmm…  I’ll be thinking about how I want to do that.

Thanks for stopping by!

Clinton City Heritage Craft and Quilt Show…

July 10, 2015

We had our quilt show for Clinton City’s Heritage Days on Wednesday…  Here’s a little peak at some of the quilts!

DSC_3685The basket quilt on the left was made by Doris.  The one on the right is made up of 56 bitty blocks from my friends in the BBC, “The Bitty Block Committee”.  I just love this one!  (I know it’s mine, but there are so many blocks from my friends all over the world, it’s almost like getting together with them in person!)

DSC_3686This one is just gorgeous!  Made by Doris S.

DSC_3687And this lovely was made by my friend Vivian!

DSC_3690This one is my friend, Sheri’s…  My friends are awesome!  They came through with lots of entries!

DSC_3691My friend Susan made this stunner!  Wowza!

DSC_3716Ruth and her family with the quilt she made honoring her sister who passed away this winter.

DSC_3719My friend Debbie and her beautiful little challenge quilt!  Very Amish looking!

DSC_3720Becky and the quilt she made for her daughter…  And who doesn’t love her minion shirt?!

DSC_3707And these two quilts were made by Destry and Denise.  Denise is the one on the right, and she tied for first place with another gal!  Isn’t that fun?

Especially since I begged her for quilts as we didn’t have enough!  Thanks to all my awesome friends for making our quilt show a success!

And thanks to you for visiting my blog!

A couple of projects…

June 10, 2015

I have been working on a few things recently and thought I’d share!

In the Mini QT Swap we did the theme, “Furry Purries”…  I made this little quilt for my partner, Quilt Monster.  I used pictures of her two cats

to pick from Free Coloring Pages for my pattern.  I tweaked them to resemble hers!

Here they are from my Furry Purries!121_0493Poukie, Lexi, and Arnold.

121_0487Grey Boy (in front), Lexi, Arnold, and Milo.  Yes, mine look bored!

And last but not least, a special little project I’ve been working on for a friend…

121_0502I stuck with feathers going up and down to speed things up!  The recipient will receive this tomorrow…

Wonky Houses Published!

December 14, 2014

I’ve been sitting on an exciting bit of news since September…  My friend, Silvana Pereira Coutinho and I swapped wonky house blocks a couple of years ago.  We each made a block for ourselves and each other and traded them via mail.  At the end of 1 year, we had 24 blocks.  (Silvana lives in Brazil.)  I have to say how much I love the opportunity to meet new friends all around the world through the digital medium!  Thanks for participating in this with me Silvana!  You are an awesome friend and designer!

I made mine into a quilt which was in works to be published in NQA’s “The Quilting Quarterly”. I am so excited as I received my contributor copy yesterday!!!  A special “Thanks” goes out to the Editor, Barbara Polston and of course Silvana!  It is an awesome Issue too…  It features some wonderful mini quilts and mini quilt artists.  It is the Winter 2014 issue, Volume 43 Number 4 #173. If you’d like to order a copy, you can visit their site at http://www.nqaquilts.org

I think in celebration, I am going to give away a signed copy to someone who leaves a comment on this blogpost!  Now, in all fairness, I have to warn you that I am technology challenged.  I do it the old fashioned way.  I put everyone’s names into a basket and have my son draw the winner.  (Of which I take pictures…)  If you would like to be in the drawing, leave me a comment and a way that I can get in touch with you…  (Or you can check back when I post the winner on December 20th)  That gives you a whole week!

IMG_1331Be sure to leave a comment if you want a chance to win a copy!  I’ll announce the winner in 1 week…

Thanks for visiting, and celebrating mine and Silvana’s publication!

The Raven… (Or crow. Whichever you prefer!)

October 30, 2014

Excerpt from “The Raven” by Edgar Allan Poe…

IMG_1034

And the Raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon’s that is dreaming,
    And the lamp-light o’er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor;
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
            Shall be lifted—nevermore!

MQTS Harvest/Halloween Swap…

October 5, 2014

In the Mini QT Swap on flickr we had a Harvest/Halloween theme…  I made this for my partner, jm1122:

???????????????????????????????Some of you may recognize “Rat Zombie”, for whom I have a deep love and affection…  LOL!

He was the star for this little mini quilt!  He “loves” candy corns.  I added arms to the candy corns after I took this shot.

A few days ago, I received this in the mail:

IMG_0468I just love this!  A spider web block with spider web quilting!  Brilliant!  Plus, Jodie was so generous…

IMG_0470She included all of these awesome goodies!  (All I sent her was a bag of M&M’s and a spooky music CD!)

Thanks Jodie!  What a fun package (x2) to find in the mailbox!

(That’s why I love swapping!  Best mail e.v.e.r.!)

And here’s the purrr-fect way to say “goodbye”…
