Mushroom Pinnie!, a photo by ruthiequilts on Flickr.

This is the pinnie that I made for my partner in the FLiPS swap. There’s a fairy that lives inside! My partner received it, so I can show it now!

I used an orphan block that I had left over from DQS (Doll Quilt Swap) on flickr. I love it when orphan blocks can be used in new ways! Don’t you?!

Thanks for stopping by!

Wowza Teri! Amazing package!!!, a photo by ruthiequilts on Flickr.

I received the most awesome package ever today from Craktpot in the Fab Little Pincushion Swap!!! Check out all the goodies! (As if the fabulous Wizard of Oz pinnie wasn’t enough!!!) I loooooove the embroidery! And lemon cookies, and house tape measure, and fabric! And an extra set of ruby slippers. And cute little scissors! Love, love love everything!!! Thank you thank you thank you!!!!

Teri is a skilled stalker and knows my favorite colors, styles, and Wizard of Oz geekiness! You are awesome!!!  Here are some close ups of the pinnie/organizer…???????????????????????????????

Sorry this one is sideways!  I forget my new camera takes a square picture, so I don’t have to turn it sideways for a vertical shot!  LOL!  The feet are pose-able, and rainbow pins!  Awesomeness!

IMG_1180Look!  It’s Toto!  Awwwww…  (Check out her felt flower too!  She is so creative!)

IMG_1179And last but no least, the covered tape measure and embroidery on the sewing bag…  Yup, those linen pieces are pockets!!!  I am so excited with all the treasures!

An option for FLiPS…

IMG_0978Many of you may know that I am a Swap-a-holic.  I can’t seem to help myself!  LOL!  I belong to a flickr group called, “Fab Little Pincushion Swap” or “FLiPS” for short…  I’m playing around with some free patterns that I’ve found online.  This one is from the following blog:  http://pennyshands.blogspot.com/2010/08/hexie-caddy-tutorial.html  Thanks Penny!  And to all those creative people who make patterns free to us junkies.  Er.  Creative folk.

I, of course had to add some flying triangles because that’s how I am…  I also shortened it a step and machine stitched my elongated hexies together…  (I stopped exactly on the corner so I could still hand stitch the hexies to the end.)   It’s a fun pattern and I’m sure I’ll make it again!  😉

???????????????????????????????Here’s a close up of the center!  I love Kaffee dots…  Must. have. more.

Thanks for visiting!!!  Stitch on…

Wow! Look at what I got for Christmas!, a photo by ruthiequilts on Flickr.

Christmas came early this year! Yesterday, following our last Quilt Guild meeting/Christmas party, I received this gorgeous pincushion from my friend Denise! Isn’t it gorgeous?! And she made all the pins too! (As if the pincushion wasn’t enough!) I could gaze at this all night. I’ll just set it here by the computer for awhile… Thanks bunches Denise!!!

Mousie pinnie made by Mamacjt!!! by ruthiequilts
Mousie pinnie made by Mamacjt!!!, a photo by ruthiequilts on Flickr.

I participated in the Fabulous Little Pincushion Swap on flickr… It’s a secret swap that allows people to show all the fun pincushions that might be coming their way! I coveted these little mice that mamacjt made, but I was sure I wasn’t lucky enough to be her partner!

This is how Carol packaged all the goodies that she sent!  It was like Christmas!!!  (And you have to know that I’ll make use of the yellow ribbons she tied them with!  LOL!)

I excitedly opened all the fun little packages to reveal their contents!  I had a “draining” morning was just so tuckered out, but this gave me a definite lift!!!!  Inside all the little packages was the loot shown below…

Thanks for all the wonderful goodies Carol!  What an awesome swap!  Thanks to all the swap mamas too for another wonderfully run swap!!!  The swap with the mostest!  Off to eat some chocolate…

Rat Zombie Pincushion Prize

Rat Zombie Pincushion Prize, a photo by ruthiequilts on Flickr.

This is one of the prizes for the Halloween Blog Hop, sponsored by Soma at Whims and Fancies! She’s got some other goodies to win too, but I whipped him up to go with hers! Some of you may recognize my sweet little rat zombie looking for a hug… “I wanna hug, and den bwains.”  (‘Cuz every zombie has a lisp as pieces and part seem to fall from everywhere…)

To qualify for the drawing, you just have to upload the pictures of any finished blocks from the Blog Hop to the flickr site found here:  http://www.flickr.com/groups/halloweenpaperpiecing/!

I have got to get busy sewing these!  If you haven’t seen the blocks so far, they are fantastic!!!  This stands to be one of the most fun Halloween quilts ever…  I have a link to the blog site on the right hand sidebar…  It’s “Something Wicked This Way Comes…”  Come and join in, if you aren’t already playing!!!  Hugs and cackles, ruthiequilts

Frankenmouse and Mousecula…

Frankenmouse and Mousecula... by ruthiequilts
Frankenmouse and Mousecula…, a photo by ruthiequilts on Flickr.

These have got to be my favorite patterns ever!!! They were designed by a talented gal who works at Village Dry Goods in Brigham City, Utah, my favorite quilt shop ever!!! If you want the patterns, leave me a comment, and I’ll get you the contact info for the store! (Who I am not affiliated with at all, except for being their biggest fan.) LOL!

I already mentioned in the previous post that I’ve made Frankenmouse before, in case he looks familiar!  Mousecula is new to me this time, and I have to laugh because he looks like he’s doing a “song and dance” number!  “Hello my baby… Hello my darlin’… Hello my Ragtime doll…”  Can’t you just hear it?!  LOL!  And the funny thing is that my friend Karen thought the same thing!!!  Sick, errrr… great minds think alike!

What I’ve been working on…

What I've been working on... by ruthiequilts
What I’ve been working on…, a photo by ruthiequilts on Flickr.

These are the little projects that I’ve been working on the last few days…  They involve a little handwork, so they’ve been good to take with me to work on at the park!  I’m doing a series of 3 little mouse pincushions (I’ve made Frankenmouse before, just in case he looks familiar, but I keep giving him away!), Frakenmouse, Mousecula, and Witch Hazel!  (She’s not done yet!)  My friend Denise, picked up the pattern at Village Dry Goods.  (I already bought them when they came out last year and the year before!)  Karen, Denise and I are getting together and working on them…  They are too darn cute!

In the Roy Quilt Guild, Sue was teaching us to make 3 jack-o-lanterns stacked on top of each other.  They were a little big for the space I have left for Halloween decorations, so I made a smaller pattern for myself.  Denise and Leslie wanted to do the smaller size too, so the three of us did my little pattern!  Denise and Leslie were both doing things differently, so I stole, ummm…, borrowed the ideas I liked best from all three of them.  The pumpkins are the end result!  Thanks ladies!!!  I’ll add them to my Halloween mini quilt display on the clothesline…

Look what I got!

One to one pincushion swap- side view... by ruthiequilts
One to one pincushion swap- side view…, a photo by ruthiequilts on Flickr.

I am an admin for a flickr group. On occasion, we get a request for a new member that doesn’t have any swap experience. I offer to swap with them if they have some of their art/quilty works in their photostream and look like they might be a good fit with the group. This way, we can ensure new members have some swap history under their belts.

Sadly to say, I have seen enough flakers and slackers that I want to make sure all swappers receive a wonderful little quilt! (Slackers mail late routinely, and flakers just up and disappear after their swaps have arrived to them and never send to their partners.)

I received this beautiful little pinnie from Jeanfiberarts today!!! It is beautifully made, and I always love quality wool projects!!! Thanks Jean! I love it!

Now to get busy making something for Jean!

Christmas Pinnies I've finished so far! by ruthiequilts
Christmas Pinnies I’ve finished so far!, a photo by ruthiequilts on Flickr.

I’m the President this year for the Roy Quilt Guild… I decided to make pinnies for all the members for Christmas. I’m using spare bitty blocks that I made, in addition to a couple of spare Dear Jane blocks! (If you’ve ever done a Dear Jane, you’ll recognize them immediately! LOL!) I have to make 35 of these (give or take a few…)! Yay for finishes of any sort!
