June 9, 2015

121_0515That’s right!  The NQA’s Quilting Quarterly Spring and Summer Issues in which mine and Silvana’s patterns are published!

It’s always fun to see your work in a magazine!

121_0517I really love the way they bordered the pages with the trees to look like banner flags!

121_0518And our bios…  Fun fun!

And I really have been sewing a lot.  I just have been neglecting taking pictures.

121_0520This is my sneak peek for my Zoo themed bitty blocks for the BBC…

Thanks for visiting!

Wonky Houses Published!

December 14, 2014

I’ve been sitting on an exciting bit of news since September…  My friend, Silvana Pereira Coutinho and I swapped wonky house blocks a couple of years ago.  We each made a block for ourselves and each other and traded them via mail.  At the end of 1 year, we had 24 blocks.  (Silvana lives in Brazil.)  I have to say how much I love the opportunity to meet new friends all around the world through the digital medium!  Thanks for participating in this with me Silvana!  You are an awesome friend and designer!

I made mine into a quilt which was in works to be published in NQA’s “The Quilting Quarterly”. I am so excited as I received my contributor copy yesterday!!!  A special “Thanks” goes out to the Editor, Barbara Polston and of course Silvana!  It is an awesome Issue too…  It features some wonderful mini quilts and mini quilt artists.  It is the Winter 2014 issue, Volume 43 Number 4 #173. If you’d like to order a copy, you can visit their site at http://www.nqaquilts.org

I think in celebration, I am going to give away a signed copy to someone who leaves a comment on this blogpost!  Now, in all fairness, I have to warn you that I am technology challenged.  I do it the old fashioned way.  I put everyone’s names into a basket and have my son draw the winner.  (Of which I take pictures…)  If you would like to be in the drawing, leave me a comment and a way that I can get in touch with you…  (Or you can check back when I post the winner on December 20th)  That gives you a whole week!

IMG_1331Be sure to leave a comment if you want a chance to win a copy!  I’ll announce the winner in 1 week…

Thanks for visiting, and celebrating mine and Silvana’s publication!

Utah Quilt Guild’s Quilt Festival 2014!

September 10, 2014

I am getting so excited that I can’t stand it!  Next week begins Utah Quilt Guilds Annual Meeting and Festival…

There will be a quilt show (Yay!!!), vendors, and classes!

I was thrilled to be accepted as a teacher this year…  I’ll be teaching my retractable tape measure that was featured in “The Quilting Quarterly” Journal of the National Quilting Association, Inc~ Volume 42 Number 5 #169.  I added a few simpler paper piecing patterns for the class.

I finished up my patterns today, and I have 30 kits available that are pre-paper pieced if my students want to get straight to the nuts and bolts,  er…  Needles and Threads…

???????????????????????????????Thanks to my friend, MollySewn for sharing her pattern bags with me!!! I’d have been scrambling for sure if she hadn’t offered to bring me some.

Thanks for visiting!!!  Hope you all have a great rest of the week doing what you enjoy!

Today…

March 6, 2014

No kids home from school or babysitting, so I enjoyed myself rocking out to the radio and getting some projects finished!

I finished the binding on this little quilt…  It’s going to be donated to one of my guilds to offer as a silent auction item.

One of my teachers challenged me to do a single binding on a mini quilt instead of a double.  I did it, and it wasn’t too bad!

IMG_2691It measures 11 x 17 inches.

For the quilting motifs in the open blocks I used a little 1 cm sticker and quilted the feathers around it.

Here’s a view from the back so you can see the quilting better:

IMG_2692And last, but not least, I was getting an updated picture for a class proposal I’m putting together….IMG_2686As you can see, the mad photo-bombing cat had to get involved!  I did get a picture without him, but he is just too funny!

Thanks for visiting!!!  Time to get back to work…

I have been so excited to share my good news! I am published! This is the Winter issue of “Quilting Quarterly” 2013, “Journal of the National Quilting Association, Inc.”

I joined facebook kicking and screaming because I already spend too much time on the computer! LOL! I’ve met a lot of great quilting friends through it, including Barbara Polston, Editor for the “Quilting Quarterly”. She had seen the “extra goody” tape measure that I made for one of my swaps and asked me if I’d be interested in publishing? I said “Yes!!!” LOL! (Okay, I was really a little chicken. Could I get it ready in time? What did I need to do? My patterns are pretty ugly for my use… Eek!)???????????????????????????????

Barbara was so kind in talking me through all the steps and here it is!!! Thanks for the opportunity!!!IMG_2009
