Finished a couple of customer quilts and received a swap!

April 4, 2017

I quilted these two lovely quilts for Sara…And the back…

I really enjoyed working on her Storm at Sea as well!I did a couple of specialty areas you can see here:

And last but not least, I received this awesome swap in the flickr “Triptych” swap on MQTS.Lots of awesome goodies, plus a beautiful triptych depicting the beauty of Utah! I’m working like a mad woman to get some quilts ready for UQSM (aka HMQS under new ownership due to the untimely passing of HMQS’s previous owner.)  2 more labels to make and 2 more quilts to block and then I can get back to my regularly scheduled program!

Thanks for stopping by!

A couple of quilt shows…

March 7, 2017

I have some quilts hanging at Union Station in Ogden this month….  I thought you might enjoy seeing them!

Here is my funky hand-dyed piece, “Steam Punk Milkyway”.  I dyed the fabric, and then quilted the heck out of it, (shocking that I would do that right?!  LOL!), adding some eyelash yarn around one of the “planets”.  Then I painted some un-quilted areas using “Lumiere” metallic fabric paints by Jacquard.  Lastly, I used some thin wire I had left over from my beading days and created swirls which I added to the un-quilted squares sandwiched between the “stairs” and hung some more tightly curled swirls on the moon.

This piece is called “Crayon Canyon”.  I designed it from a photograph.  This one hung in Padukah at the “National Quilt Museum” as part of the “Simply Southwest” exhibit.  The picture doesn’t show the colors super well.  They look like crayons!  (That melted when left in a hot car all day.)

And last but not least, “Little Garden Beauty”.  I used Kaffee prints on a neutral background.  This is one of my faves!

Meanwhile, up the road at the Brigham City Museum, the Utah Quilt Guild’s Ruby Jubilee is in full swing!  I have 2 quilts that I quilted for Roy, and Layton Quilt Guilds…

This one was titled, “Royal Stars” and was pieced by Roy Quilt Guild members, and designed by Patsy Shelton.  I love this pattern!!!

And here comes Layton Quilt Guild’s quilt…

It was designed by Lorri Bashein, pieced by members of Layton Quilt Guild, and the center was hand embroidered by Brenda Sacher.

Thanks for visiting the exhibits with me!!!

I know… I am soooooo bad!

March 4, 2017

I have been crazy busy!  Story of my life lately…  I rushed to get things done before I went to a quilting retreat at Bryce (which I’ll try to post on later).  I didn’t quite get this done before I left a couple of weeks ago, but finished it within days of being home.

100_5658I’m going to enter it into a couple of shows, so I won’t show you the front until it goes “public”.  (Although I have shown a few sneak peeks…)

100_5660Here’s a close up with a little more detail…  I love the dyed back!!!

100_5663And I worked on 3 UFO’s while at Bryce.  Here I’m auditioning a bird in the center…  He made the cut!  More on him later.

100_5665When I returned from Bryce, I received 8 customer quilts to quilt.  Yikes!  Guess what I’ve been doing?

100_5667This one is hanging at Union Station in Ogden right now.  Pretty funky!  I’ll be there tomorrow and will show you the whole thing.

100_5676And this guy is finally made in fabric.  I designed the pattern last year but didn’t have time to work on it.  It’s a long way from finished, but I imagine down the road he’ll be a finished pattern in quilt form.

100_5683And last but not least, another client quilt I’ve worked on.  There are others as well, but I forgot to take there pictures!  Poor neglected things…

I’m hoping that things will slow down a titch, but I just sent in my contract to teach at Quilt Fest.  Guess that means I’ll  add “whip up a pattern” to my to-do list!

Thanks for stopping by!!!

Busy busy!

January 22, 2017

And it’s not getting ready to slow down anytime soon!

I have Bryce Winter Retreat coming up in a few weeks and plan on trying to get all of my client quilts done before I go…

Here is a quilt that I quilted for Lisa S.  What a fun quilt!100_5577And the back so you can see the quilting a little easier….100_5579I’m also working on a 50 Shades of Red swap on Flickr in the Mini QT Swap.

I found the center heart image on Free Heart Clip Art.  Love it!!!100_5622And I finished the Wonky House Quilts that we made in Roy Quilt Guild using mine and Silvana’s Patterns that were featured in The National Quilting Associations, “Quilting Quarterly”, although we did ours in 6 inches instead of 4.

100_5591Guild Members had to bring in their finished house block and they got a freebie tree block!  It really encouraged people to get their houses done!

And last but not least, I quilted this gorgeous quilt for my friend Susan H.  100_5582It was too mucky outside to get a picture of the whole thing,  but I quilted all 5o blocks with different backgrounds.  Talk about challenging!!!  Susan got these blocks at a yard sale.  The blue border fabric had bled onto the light backgrounds so the owner got rid of them.  Susan removed the offending fabric and was able to get out the blue coloring.  Didn’t this come out great?!

Missing in action, or Too busy to be believed?

September 16, 2016

Yes, I am still in the land of the living.  I told my friend Susie that I hadn’t been on the computer in about a week.

She’s said, “I think it’s been longer than that!”  Well, sure enough, it’s been almost 2 weeks!

I have been sewing sewing sewing…  Here are a few of the things I’ve been working on…

100_5352I quilted this quilt for my “Quilty Hugs” group that donates to local charities.  Emily with http://www.auntemsquilts.com/ has a group that meets with her once a month to work on these quilts…

100_5359This is Roy Quilt Guild members who have finished working on their mystery quilts.  (Okay, the 2 on the left are mine as I taught the mystery!)  I’ll post more next month as the tops come in…

100_5371And here’s my little quilt at the fair…  😉

100_5394This is Susie’s quilt that I quilted for her which she created using Emily’s pattern!  (I love that!)

100_5397I quilted this for a client!

100_5400And last, but not least is my “Going Coastal” quilty for the MQTS group on flickr.

It’s a pattern that I revamped a bit from a previous mini quilt that I designed.

I wanted something that represented Patrick’s State Park in California where we camped this summer.

Whew!

Thanks for stopping by!  I’ll try to be better next time!  😉

A couple of projects! Busy summer!!!

July 5, 2016

Hi everyone!  I’m sorry I’ve been such a slacker!  I am trying to fit way too many things into “not enough time”…  Here are a couple of things that I’ve quilted recently…

100_5013This is my friend Denise’s quilt…  It was from a round robin several years ago…

100_5012And another closeup view…

100_5011Here’s the whole thing…  Denise provided the inner block and sent it with fabrics around the robin.  I made the applique border.  It was a lot of fun to quilt this one!  (In addition to working on it…)

100_5010And last but not least, this was made by Pam Day for Clinton City Heritage Days.  She made 2 of them to give away at the quilt show.  I provided the quilting for them…  Thanks for stopping by!  More coming as soon as life slows down a tad…  🙂

HMQS… Mini quilts and a few others…

May 7, 2016

Well, it’s been a busy week here!  HMQS is in full swing!  One more day, and I have a class going on tomorrow…  It’s a long arm class taught by Claudia Pfeil!  Yay!!!  I can’t wait!  This year HMQS began a division of mini quilts.  Right up my alley!  Here I am with my little quilt:  “Wee Red and White Delight”100_1162Only 900 pieces in it…  Big grin for the 3rd place ribbon!!!  Thank you judges!  Here are the 1st and second place quilts100_1163

I’ll show you the second place more closely as I love Helen Butler’s work!

100_1144

I quilted this one for my friend Vivian.100_1146It is such a fun little quilt!  100_1147The quilting on this one was simply amazing!  Plus I love the irregular border.

100_1153And this little lonestar just blew me away!!!  Itsy bitsy goodness!100_1148This one is based on a George Siciliano’s work…  He’s one of my heroes!

100_1155And Karen Marchetti’s quilting is amazing!!!

100_1161This one was one of my favorites as well…  I love everything about it!

I should have a lot more quilty goodness for you, but I’ve been a bit preoccupied shopping at the show…  Maybe I can drag myself away to see quilts tomorrow!  😉  Thanks for joining me!

A few little projects that I’ve been working on…

April 6, 2016

Yes, I know…  I haven’t been around much lately, but I have so many projects that I’m working on!  Here’s a little peek…

102_1086Close-up on a friends quilt…  This was a fun one!

102_1092And a couple of mugrugs I quilted for another friend!

102_1088And last but not least, my furry helper is showing you the last quilt top that I’ve completed…

102_1052I did this as an online mystery with several friends.  I kept sewing my rows on wrong and unpicked the same row 4 times!  Mey!  I added the braid around the edge to finish it off…  Yeah!  Now to put it in the “Needs to be quilted” pile.

Thanks for visiting!!!

Mug Rug I made for Layton Quilt Guild’s swap…

March 18, 2016

I made this little mug rug for a swap in my local guild…  The theme was, “A touch of green.”  I quilted the area first, and then painted it with fabric paints.

102_1031

I really love this technique!  Irena Bluhm told me how she does it on FB a while ago.  This is the third little piece that I’ve done.

Thanks for visiting!

A Little Something…

February 18, 2016

Just wanted to show you all a little something I’m working on…  I’ll post more pictures after I enter it in a quilt show or two!

127_1005Because I am going to enter this into competition, I’ll go through with a red Micron pen and color all of those white stitches red so they won’t show.  I always use a light colored thread so I have the option of coloring it!  Thanks for stopping by!
