Claudia Pfeil…

May 8, 2016

I had the opportunity to take a class with the International Award Winning Quilter, Claudia Pfeil yesterday morning!  Her quilting is amazing and I aspire to quilt like she does…  (Plus she brought chocolate!  She’s my favorite teacher ever!  LOL!)

This was her entrance in HMQS…  Amazing quilting and color!  And who doesn’t like bling?!!!

100_1204This is a closeup of her quilting…  Now that I’ve had her class I should be able to quilt like her, right?!

LOLOLOLOL…!  I am a funny girl!

100_1166Here is Claudia showing us how to do her “Onions”…  I must practice more!  (Check out that design on the right…  It’s from her “A-Z” class!)

100_1167A close up so you can see how amazing it is!

And last but not least, here is the piece that I was working on in our “Bubbles” class…

Now, I haven’t done any show quilting on my midarm, so this was a new experience for me.  I usually do show quilting on my Bernina domestic machine as I have a lot more control.  Hopefully I will be able to experiment and get good like this on the longarm…  🙂  Claudia said the 3 P’s of quilting are Practice, practice, practice…  I intend to follow that advice!  Thanks for an awesome class Claudia!  Next year I’m going to take her A-Z class.  Wish I had taken it this year!

Thanks for visiting…

HMQS~ Home Machine Quilt Show…

May 11, 2013

What a fabulous day I had today!  I wish you all could have joined me!  I had the opportunity to attend the HMQS Home Machine Quilting Show held in Sandy, Utah.  I went with my besties from my Tuesday Sewing group, and the little baby that I babysit.  She was perfect in every way!!!  I’ve taken some pictures for your viewing pleasure…  I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!

There are so many quilts that I didn’t get to see due to new shoes, sore feet, and aching parts.  And then there are some gorgeous vintage quilts that goofy me didn’t get the information for, so I left those out.  And we won’t talk about the ones that weren’t in focus…  I’m sure it was my camera.

Sit back and enjoy!100_5420

My quilt display (and model) at HMQS!

My quilt display (and model) at HMQS!, a photo by ruthiequilts on Flickr.

These 4 quilts are the entries that I provided for the HMQS Quilt Show. They featured quilts made by members of the Layton Quilt Guild, of which I am a member!

These 4 quilts are quilts I designed 4 years in a row for the Utah State Fair Challenge. They provided the theme and a fat quarter, and we made quilts accordingly!

The upper left quilt was made in 2006, “Flamboyant Fun at the Fair” which I titled, “When I Went to the Fair, I Spied…”

The upper right one I titled, “Sweet Memories” and it was entered in 2007.

The lower left hand quilt is titled, “Playing to His Tune”, and features my son when he was a few years younger! This one was entered in 2008.

And last, but not least, I made in the heyday of making and swapping “Dear Jane” blocks. I titled this one, “Down the Lane With Strawberry Jane.” It features numerous “Dear Jane” blocks in the grass, and sky, as well as draped over the fence post.

What a great day! I got to go to breakfast, and Second Saturday with my good friend, and then headed down to HMQS with a group of my Quilt Guild friends!!! Ahhhhh… There’s nothing like Quilt Therapy!
