How to quilt it…

October 19, 2014

I made these beautiful paper pieced blocks and wasn’t sure how to quilt them…

(I made 1 for a pincushion, but who wants to sew just 1?  So I made 5 and used 1 for the pincushion and 4 for a mini quilt…)

This is the final picture of the star center…

IMG_0787I started with wavy quilting radiating out from the white star.  Then I used a tape template cut into a circle

I stitched around the tape circle and then removed it…

IMG_0791Then I add pebbles in the center using the figure 8 method…

I filled in all of the spaces between the pebbles and ended up with the above block.

I still have to work in my threads, but I really love the way this makes those pebbles pop!

Thanks for stopping by!

I started the quilting on my little quilt for my secret partner in the fab Little Quilt Swap! I decided to go with pebble quilting in purple thread… I like the way it’s coming out so far! I really hope my partner likes it!

Thanks for the quilting idea Doreen! It’s perfect for this little project!
